It’s so nice to take some time in the summer to reflect on the previous wedding season. We started early this year (January!) and went right through June. There were so many highlights and we continue to be grateful for wonderful couples and great partnerships with wholesalers and growers!
One wedding in particular really stood out this season. I first met the bride, Brett, last summer; as we were discussing her vision, it became very clear that not only did she have wonderful taste, she was willing to let me be creative! This wedding was designed with Anna and Glenny of ANGLE Events, and was really a great example of a wonderful collaboration.
Let me walk you through some of the steps of our creative process:
After our initial meeting, I created a proposal and a mood board of potential flowers. We decided that we were going to go with white flowers for the personal flowers/Church decor and then have a “color riot” at New Orleans Country Club. The inspiration was spring colors and spring blooms. Here is the mood board of flowers we started with:
From these colors, the Brett commissioned a bespoke, watercolored monogram that became the “theme” and we finalized flower choices. I also provided a sketch of what the arches would look like. For this wedding, we had two truss archways that mirrored each other in the main ballroom of New Orleans Country Club. One was 11×24 feet and one was 8×10 feet. Here is a snippet of the sketch:
From there, flowers were ordered and with the help of wonderful wholesalers from all over the world, we were able to get the most amazing product! Highlights included lily of the valley, garden roses, blooming branches, lilac, hellebores, clematis, hyacinth, ranunculus, tulips, and anemones, among other things. Truly a celebration of Spring!

Many thanks to the team of designers and crew that helped to make this event possible! This was such a beautiful event and it was wonderful to be a part of this special wedding. Congratulations Brett and James!
